The Jonesville Tennis Center is the first public clay court facility in Alachua county.   The tennis center is located within Jonesville Park, which already has soccer fields and will soon have baseball and softball fields.  The park is located on CR241 which runs from Alachua to Newberry Road. The Park is approximately ½ mile south of the intersection of NW 39th Avenue and CR 241, or 1.7 miles north of Newberry Road.

The tennis center consists of 14 Har-Tru Hydrogrid Courts, including one larger “show” court, a beach tennis court, and a small proshop/restroom building, which includes shower facilities. All areas within the center are handicapped accessible. The cost of this facility is $1.7M, with the funding divided between Alachua County and the contractor, Jonesville Tennis, LLC, who was also awarded a 10-year management contract.  Management of the facility will be under the direction of Dave Porter.  All contracts were approved at the Board of County Commissioners’ meeting on July 8, 2008, with additional funds for site clearance approved October 28, 2008.

We are very excited about this new development because of the lack of public courts in this area. We will have the ability to organize many new programs, and to grow existing programs. Court time will be free for all Junior Team Tennis practices and matches. This should be an enormous asset for our JTT program, and for creating many other youth programs in our area.
